The Heritage manifesto is a response to young People of Colour feeling disconnected from traditional heritage spaces. This an opportunity to connect he voices of young people to those in positions of power within the heritage sector.’ 

This manifesto moves away from understanding young People of Colour as monoliths. It is a reflection of their needs and wants, whilst addressing the diverse experiences within the community.

The movement to decolonise the heritage sector has resulted in institutions wanting to create spaces that are inclusive and accessible.

Our campaign aims to influence heritage organisations to look at how they can progress to engage more young People of Colour and take steps forward in changing for the better.

AMIRA ISMAIL

Board Director

Amira is currently the Regional Programme Manager at the Ernst & Young (EY) Foundation. With a BA in History and an MA in International Relations from the University of Birmingham, Amira brings a rich background in youth engagement and empowerment.

Her dedication shines through her work with funders like the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and her volunteer efforts with Chatham House, where she connects young people with key policymakers in international affairs.

Amira has also previously been a part of the programme We Don’t Settle emerged from, Don’t Settle, under Beatfreeks. She is deeply committed to creating safe spaces for young people to celebrate their lived experiences.
